What Are Dental Implants?

“Permanent replacements for chipped or damaged teeth”

Implants are the next best thing to natural teeth. Whether you’re missing teeth, have a crooked smile or wearing dentures, dental implants can restore your smile, beautifully.

Implants Defined

A dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath the gum line. The post fuses to the jawbone and becomes a part of your jaw, offering long-term support of crowns, bridges or dentures. After the area has healed, an impression is taken, just like with natural teeth, and crowns, bridges or dentures are attached to the implants.

Dental Innovation

Dental implants have been called the most significant dental innovation of our generation. Because the medical-grade titanium fuses to living bone, the teeth feel completely natural. Unlike dentures or other dental solutions, implants also help preserve your jawbone, which can become vulnerable to shrinkage over time once teeth are lost. Our doctors at NuSmile can help you get back to smiling and being yourself again with some of the best dental implants available.

Simple Procedure

Implant placement is a relatively simple minor surgical procedure that can be performed at our dentist office. The treatment is performed under local anesthesia with sedation, if required.

To start, only a top dentist will do an examination of your mouth and oral structure. Once the best method for placing implants has been decided, you will then undergo the implant procedure. The implants will be placed directly into the socket of your missing tooth and will be closed for healing for 12 weeks.

After your body has had enough time to heal, we will see you back at our office, at which point we will attach custom-made crowns to your implants. These crowns are what you see as the visible part of the tooth. They will match the exact shape, contour and natural design and structure of your teeth and mouth. It's that simple. Patients are frequently surprised how little discomfort they feel during and after the procedure.

Lasts for Years

Once treatment is completed, a regular routine of dental hygiene such as brushing and flossing, and regular checkups will help ensure your implants last for many years.

Are implants right for you?

Patients who have missing teeth and strong bone density in the jaws are often ideal candidates for dental implants.

In fact, if you’re healthy enough to undergo a routine dental extraction or oral surgery, you can be considered for implants. There is no upper age limit for patients to undergo implant treatment. If, however, you do not have strong bone density, NuSmile can perform a bone graft, a routine and painless procedure that can help maximize the outcome of your dental implant surgery.

Heavy smokers, people suffering from uncontrolled chronic disorders, such as diabetes or heart disease, or patients who have had radiation therapy to the head/neck area will be evaluated on an individual basis.
